Dr. Howard Schubiner

Advocate of using mind-body medicine and therapies to treat chronic pain symptoms (Mind Body Syndrome)

“Dr. Howard Schubiner is a certified internist and pediatrician who is a full professor at Wayne State University. He is also the founder and director of the Mind-Body Medicine Center at Providence-Providence Park Hospital. Dr. Schubiner is an advocate of using mind-body medicine and therapies to treat chronic pain symptoms. He believes that chronic pain is often a learned response or association. For example, he says that people have been conditioned to associate a trigger with a response, similar to Ivan Pavlov’s famous experiment in the 1890s.”
