Israel Regardie

Aleister Crowley's secretary

Israel Regardie, born Francis Israel Regudy in 1907, was a key figure in occultism and ceremonial magic. Raised in an Orthodox Jewish family in London, he later embraced Theosophy, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jewish mysticism in the United States. Working as Aleister Crowley’s secretary, he was introduced to ceremonial magic and authored significant works on the Qabalah. Notably, he preserved the Golden Dawn system of magic, breaking his oath of secrecy. Regardie also practiced psychology and chiropractic in the U.S., passing away in 1985 in Sedona, Arizona.
